We hope that you never lose or damage your beloved items, but it's important that they are insured just in case you ever need to make a claim. Here at Lumbers we have a NAJ registered valuer in house who deals with all our jewellery and watch valuations. As one of the very few jewellers in Leicester with an onsite valuer, Sarah is very popular. You may require a valuation for several reasons, the most common is that your insurer needs one to provide adequate insurance cover for your watches and jewellery. Other reasons include probate, private sale or just for personal interest.
MANY JEWELLERS CHARGE A PERCENTAGE OF YOUR JEWELLERY’S VALUE TO PROVIDE A VALUATION, BUT WE CHARGE A SIMPLE FIXED FEE SO YOU’LL KNOW HOW MUCH THE SERVICE COSTS BEFORE YOU AGREE TO IT.
Once you are happy with the timeframe and price, our valuer will examine your jewellery, complete any testing required and then will provide a written valuation that acts as a legal document you can use for insurance. This includes photographs, making note of any distinguishing features and a full description of each item; making it easier to identify your jewellery if its lost or stolen. While your jewellery is in the queue they are locked in our onsite vaults for extra protection.
Sarah’s list of qualifications is exceptional receiving a MIRV (Member of the Institute of Registered Valuers), MJVA (Member of the Jewellery Valuers Association), HND (Higher National Diploma in) Jewellery and Silversmithing, PJGemDip (Professional Jewellery Gemmology Diploma) and PJDip (Professional Jewellers’ Diploma). It doesn’t stop there; Sarah has also received multiple diamond specialist awards.
