Winner: UK Jewellery Awards

The success of the most acclaimed jewellers in Leicester has been rewarded once again, receiving the highest honour available, by being crowned ‘UK Independent Jewellery Retailer of the Year (five stores or fewer). This is the Jewellery Industry’s premier award, and Lumbers is delighted to be recognised as the finest in the UK.

At a glittering award ceremony, held at the Artillery Gardens in the heart of London, hosted by the fabulous presenter Gethin Jones (of Strictly Come Dancing and Blue Peter fame) and entertained by Bella Voci, the operatic duo from The Voice,  the great, the good and the best of the UK jewellery and watch trade assembled to receive the applause of their peers. Lumbers were also finalists for Marketing Campaign of the Year working in collaboration with VOLIÀ by Maddison Rose and the Immerse Yourself in Lumbers advertising strategy.

Managing Director, Dominic Gomersall, commented “We’ve worked so hard since the move from the old shop and we, as a team, deserve this recognition…. It was humbling to hear repeatedly, from all the judges, how easy their decision was and how they voted unanimously for us.”

Since the move to High Street, in the hub of Leicester’s retailing community, Lumbers has been honoured to receive a multitude of accolades. Lumbers was proud to be selected as The National Association of Jewellers – ‘Retailer of the Year’ whilst on a local level being recognised as ‘Retailer of the Year’ through the Niche Business Awards. The locally acclaimed ‘Leicester Mercury Business Awards’ also highlighted the recent achievements of Lumbers after being recognised as a company that has made a positive contribution to the local community. Most recently, Lumbers was named ‘Regional Winner for Inspiring Independents 2017’ whilst Dominic was personally crowned ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at Retail Jeweller Inspiring Independents.

Dominic and the Lumbers team are extremely proud of this award and nomination, especially after winning the same prestigious Retailer of the Year award back in 2003. Dominic agrees that the 2018 trophy has “come home” and is where it belongs and plans to ensure Lumbers stays at the top spot in future years.

Dominic would like to thank Lumbers local partners and most of all the loyal customers that visit the store. It has been a joint effort to get the business where it is today and he looks forward to celebrating the company’s success with you all.
