National Association of Jewellers Awards 2016

Lumbers jewellers is proud to announce that it was victorious at the recent National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) Awards 2016 winning in the Retailer of the Year category out of 1100 competitors. Both Dominic and his team were thrilled with this piece of news and we hope as a company we can go on and thrive in this fantastic industry. Managing Director, Dominic Gomersall, stated,

“…We are thrilled to win this prestigious award on behalf of this magnificent industry. This award is a fantastic illustration of how our historic move to Leicester’s High Street has become very rewarding for ourselves…”

Nonetheless before we start getting overly emotional about our recent victory in becoming the Retailer of Year we should acknowledge the fantastic work the NAJ have done for the industry. The NAJ was formed in 2015 through the unification of the British Jewellers' Association (BJA) and National Association of Goldsmiths (N.A.G) and represents over 2,000 members whose businesses operate in every aspect of the jewellery industry. Lumbers would like to first thank the NAJ for all their timeless work in regards to their support for the industry exemplified by last night’s award ceremony and for their kind words about Lumbers.

“During 2016, Lumbers in Leicester has opened the largest UK luxury retail premises. Over 16,000 square foot of complete luxury awaits the shopping public with a shop floor that is more akin to Bond Street or Rodeo Drive than the provinces of the UK. It is a daring and confident business that oozes elegance from the shop window through to the ‘Lumbers Lifestyle’ gift department.

International brand partners from Breguet, Omega, Hublot, Breitling, Chopard, Tag Heuer and Gucci sit stylishly alongside their own brand jewellery offering that is second to none. The gift department with SIS spaces for Georg Jensen, Mont Blanc, Aspinal of London and Lalique adds a completely different element to this successful retailer.

The professionalism within the business is easy to exude. From having 3 on-site Registered Valuers to in house goldsmith workshops, this business covers every base. Continual staff training is key to the outstanding customer focus of the team. The jewellery buying is also adventurous and unique offering a range of product from classic to more modern that is the envy of other local businesses. This purchasing is done throughout the team with no assistance (or hinderance!!) from any association to a buying group.

VIP lounges and a restaurant on the first floor can entertain or dine 120 clients. Success of clever local marketing including the in-house magazine ‘Aspirational’ ensures Lumbers are very visible within the locality and this coupled with event management continues to ensure the success of this 5th generation business.

Lumbers has set the new bar high for retail jewellery shops and the new premises is certainly worth a visit.”

The winner of Retailer of the Year was announced and presented on the 1st of December as part of the Benevolent Society ball at St Johns Hotel, Solihull.

We would finally like to wish all the other contestants the best of luck both within their future endeavours and thank everyone who voted for us.
